"Touching the Farm Community"

The overall goal of In-Touch Community Services “Touching the Farm Community Project” is to assist farmers in creating, expanding, and sustaining agricultural opportunities within the communities they serve.

Leveraging the relationship that NRCS has with various minority farm organizations will afford USDA with a unique platform to increase the existence of community supported agriculture in HU/SD communities served by FB / CBO’s.  Enhancing the collaboration between the farm community and the NRCS will allow USDA to train, promote, and increase USDA program participation for other communities who have lack of knowledge and involvement in agricultural programs.

In-Touch Community Services will increase the participation of Mississippi farming communities, private landowners, conservation organizations, cooperating agencies and general citizenry in USDA/ NRCS and agricultural programs by providing outreach, training, education and technical assistance to farmers and youth. Ultimately bridging the educational and economic gaps between rural and urban producers allowing them to provide variable food sources to suitable market outlets in rural and urban communities.
